Current and future projects

Projects to finish

Vogue 1003 fitting pants pattern – I need to sort the waist out (it is a little tight at the moment) then I can review it properly.

Future projects (pattern and fabric bought)

Vogue 8701 (dress and jacket)

Here’s the wool fabric I have planned for it:

a great fabric purchase is my most amazing yet in terms of price and content, a wool/silk mix for £2.95 a meter. I have several meters extra beyond requirements for the dress pattern below (the orange version). Have yet to settle on what else to do with this lovely fabric! The white fabric will form the tie, and the floral fabric is a cotton lawn for the bodice lining.

a recent purchase is this lovely floral silk, which is going to be the lining for my (still to be lined) Vogue 8543 jacket. It should make a lovely contrast to the plain black wool fabric for the outer jacket.

An update! I’ve now sewn it up and just need to attach it to the outer fashion fabric and add the button holes.

This next fabric choice has me tickled pink. It’s for simplicity 1508. Every little girl should have a fun dressing up outfit right? well, this is my (future) intended creation for a friend’s little girl. Given the HUGE yardage required (over 6 meters for one little dress!) price was always going to be a consideration. These fabrics were on the bargain stand of my local store. Excellent value, and I love how subversive the contrast (navy) fabric is. From a distance a cute motif, up close its actually poodle dogs and cars. Cute!

About sewwherenext

A few years ago I signed up for a year long beginner's dressmaking course. I have never looked back and am always thinking about my next project, hence the sew where next? name. This blog is to try and keep track of my trials, tribulations and hopefully successful projects.
